Angel Moreno is a contemporary realist painter and draftsman based in San Antonio, Texas. Born in Mexico City, he grew up admiring the works of the three giants of Mexican muralism: Rivera, Orozco and Siqueiros. His distinctive personal style emanates joy and peace and expresses the vibrant spirit and atmosphere of his culture. As a class
Angel Moreno is a contemporary realist painter and draftsman based in San Antonio, Texas. Born in Mexico City, he grew up admiring the works of the three giants of Mexican muralism: Rivera, Orozco and Siqueiros. His distinctive personal style emanates joy and peace and expresses the vibrant spirit and atmosphere of his culture. As a classically trained musician and flamenco guitarist, he incorporates elements of music into his visual work to create rhythmic visual experiences that evoke emotional responses. He is currently working on his first series of oil paintings called Los Luchadores, an exciting and colorful body of work that marks the beginning of his professional career and the happiest moment of his life.

I enjoy precision and expression, and everything I do is executed with a purpose through discipline, patience and determination as I continue to evolve as a person, and most importantly as an artist. Painting helps me see the world in different ways, it helps me think, it helps me breathe; when I paint, I enter this peaceful, joyful state
I enjoy precision and expression, and everything I do is executed with a purpose through discipline, patience and determination as I continue to evolve as a person, and most importantly as an artist. Painting helps me see the world in different ways, it helps me think, it helps me breathe; when I paint, I enter this peaceful, joyful state of mind where I am fully alert with what I think and in full balance with emotions. When I paint, I am myself.
During these past few months, I have been focusing on a body of work that consists of drawings and paintings that examine my own identity in times of world health crisis, social/racial unrest, and what appears to be the rise of fascism in America. Things that have made me reconsider my purpose in this world, my duty as a citizen, and the fragility of my own humanity. This work is based on observation and imagination following a path of discovery of new techniques, methods and materials (oil, watercolor, ink, pastel, graphite and charcoal) that I hope will lead the viewers on an introspective exploration about their views, actions, and their impact in the world.
